Sofa Frame

Sofa frames are the basic elements of your typical sofa. These frames are the foundations of your sofa. All the other parts of the sofa is made to rest on these frames. Sofa frames are a sofa's skeletal system. Needless to say, when buying a sofa, one needs to choose the sturdiest frame possible. Choosing quality sofa frames is perhaps as important as choosing the kind of upholstery for aesthetic elements or the the kind of cushion and springs to cover comfort elements.

Perhaps, the best question to ask is what kind of material is the best possible make for a sofa frame?

The best frames are made of kiln-dried hardwood. Kilns are huge ovens often used for baking ceramics into usable objects like the vases, or the ceramic plates and bowls. And yes, even your decorative figurines are kiln-baked. Kilns are also used for terra cotta creations like bricks or flower pots.

The best hardwood used for sofa frames should be kiln-dried. Kiln-drying prevents the hardwood from cracking and it spares your hardwood from the perils brought about by atmospheric humidity. When hardwood is exposed to seasonal changes, it has the tendency to crack. When this happens, your entire sofa is compromised.

Metal is good material for making sofa frames with as well. But metals are prone to oxidation with the seasonal changes. Again, changes in humidity will have an effect on your metal frame. It is perhaps best if you make sure that the sofa frame that you have acquired is treated so the metal frame is protected against atmospheric elements such as air humidity and sudden changes in temperature.

It is of epic importance that a sofa frame is sturdy. The sofa frame not on only holds the weight of the upholstery and the springs, but the weight of the person or persons using it. Imagine this, grandma and grandpa are in town to visit. Grandma is a type II diabetic and is unbelievably fat. You seat her on your sofa. Call in grandpa (who probably isn't diabetic but is equally fat). You seat him on the same sofa. You're little nieces and nephews rush over to sit on grandpa and grandma's laps. The kids wrestle each other for the most comfortable spots for a while before you holler at them to sit still. Of course your hollering doesn't work. In the real world, screaming your orders at school age kids just won't work. So you just leave them be. Grandma and grandpa don't seem to be bothered with the ruckus anyway. So your sofa holds grandma, grandpa and the hyper-active kids. And then you realized that you failed to ask the furniture shop attendant regarding the sofa frame material. Lo and behold, the sofa frame turned out to be of substandard quality. It's creaking and squeaking and then it gives.

Grandma, grandpa, the little kids along with your plush upholstery and cushions came crashing down.

All these simply because you did not consider your sofa frame when you bought your sofa.
