Advice: Clothing for my dog?

My funky looking APBT/Greyhound/Who the crap knows mix has been rubbing all the hair off of her chest. She (for lack of a better word) swims around the house and burrows under any bed or sofa she can squeeze herself under.

After a trip to my vet, she recommended that I get a shirt or jacket for my dog. After my initial reaction of HAHAHA, I began to see sense in it. Does anyone have any recommendations regarding stores or styles that would be good for a medium-sized, active dog? Most of what I've comes across is either hideously girlie, hugely overpriced or designed mostly for smaller dogs.

If it's just her chest, maybe get her one of these chest protectors they make for hunting dogs? Made of heavy material, designed to protect against sticks and underbrush:

Most of the standard "dog clothes" in stores are cheaply made and more for decoration, than function. Something like this would stand up to being rubbed along the carpet constantly. Google "hunting dog chest protector" for more options
